Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important official commented the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
